THE BIBLE CORNER
BELIEVING
(Note: To read
at a glance follow bold print)
Believing the word of God is the
key to faith.
You must believe that God’s word is the only truth and the
final and absolute authority. He that
believes has already possessed, because he that
believes in Jesus has everlasting life (John 6:47). This is the Father’s
will that everyone who sees the Son and believes
in Him will have everlasting life; and the Son will raise him
up at the last day. (John 6:40) The disciples asked Jesus
what must we do to work the works of God. Jesus answered: “This is the work of God
that you believe in him who was sent (John
6:28-29).” Believing
has to be granted to you by the Father for no one can come to
Jesus unless the Father draws him (John 6:44). Jesus said unto Simon
Peter that flesh and blood has not revealed this to
you (that I am the Christ, the Son of the living God), but my
Father who is in heaven (Matt. 16:16-17). It is the Spirit that
gives life (believing) the flesh profits nothing (John 6:63).
The words that God speaks are spirit and life (John
6:63). In order to
believe you must have the word of God abiding in you
((John 5:38). You must
believe the written word in order to believe the spoken word
(John 5:47). You are
strong, the word of God abides in you and you have overcome the
wicked one (1 John 2:14). For whatsoever is born of
God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that
has overcome the world, even our Faith (1 John 5:4). Whosoever believes that
Jesus is the Christ is born of God (1 John 5:1). The born again believer
has obtained like precious faith through the righteousness of
God and our Saviour Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:1). His spirit has
been renewed to receive the word of God and give birth to it. Of His own will He
begat us with the word of truth being born again…of incorruptible
seed: by the word of
God, which lives and abides forever (James 1:18, 1 Peter 1:23). It is the Word
(God’s divine power) that has given unto us promises that we might
be partaker of the divine nature (God’s faith), which causes us to
operate like God (Romans 1:16 and 2 Peter 1:4).
When we study and meditate on the word of God
the Holy Spirit causes the faith of the word to reside in our
spirit. When we
speak the word, it is God’s word and since it has the
faith of God abiding in it, it is as if God himself were
speaking. Our word
will not return to us void but it will accomplish that which we
please and prosper in the thing to which we send it. (Isaiah
55:11)
The spoken word has as its point of reference:
the written word. If
I do not let the word of God depart out of my mouth but
meditate in the word day and night and observe to do all
that is written therein, then I will make my way prosperous and have
good success (Joshua 1:8). I am also liken to a tree
planted by the rivers of water that brings forth fruits in seasons
and whatsoever I do prospers (Psalms 1:3). The result of my speaking
is to build and release faith filled words. I must believe
what I say happens. My words become my focus
point in believing. I
have become conscious of speaking faith filled words until speaking
faith filled words has become natural. My words always produce what
I speak. Then
believing is a result of God’s word becoming real in my
life. I speak
his word because I believe the word works.
