While seeking God I
was made aware of some fears I had about whether God would answer my
prayer. I knew that the
scripture said anyone that asks would receive. My pastor agreed with me
that my son would not have to serve any time. My pastor called me and
said, "Pray in tongues for two hours and God will
give you some instructions." About forty-five minutes into praying in the spirit, God gave
me these scriptures:
I John 4:16-18. I got my Amplified Bible and
begin to read while I continued to pray in tongue; I was determined
to be obedient to the two hour time period. God wanted me to get
rid of any fears I had about His working in my behalf. Aware that confessing the
scripture, meditating, giving, praising, thanksgiving and lifting up
holy hands are faith practices I know are pleasing to God, I began
to apply these practices to the problem.
I repeated First John
4:16-18: and we know
(understand, recognize, are conscious of by observation and by
experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the
love God cherishes for us, God is love and he who dwells and
continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and
continues in him.
When I read we know and believe, I thought, if God
knows me and He is saying that I know and believe, who am I to argue
with God. The
scripture also stated that I knew this by observation and
experience. I
thought of the times I had prayed for others for the same type of
situations and God moved. I knew of other
testimonies that bear witness to my knowing and experiencing the
love of God He
was helping me to remember the times of His faithfulness and His
care of me. God was
teaching me how to get the fears out. Put faith in:
means to speak the word into the situation. I began to say my son is
free. My son is set
free in Jesus Name. No weapon formed against me and my family shall
prosper. I've been
delivered from the snares of the devil. Greater is He that is
in me than He that is in the world. My tongue speaks only
life. The words,
"God cherishes for us," implied that God himself got involved
in my love to help me understand and demonstrate this love to
others. God is
love. I understood
this to mean that I abide in God's word therefore I am also
abiding in his love.
God's word and God's love are inseparable.
17 In
this (union and communion with Him) love is brought to completion
and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the
day of judgment (with assurance and boldness to face him) because as
He is, so are we in this world. I understand this union
and communion means fellowshipping with the Father and with His
Word (Jesus). As I
continued to spend time in the word, God began to show me more of
what I needed to overcome fear. He said I am strong, the
word of God abides in me, and the evil one touches me not. I have overcome the world
through faith and faith is my victory (what I say and what I
do). The Holy Spirit
(the mind of Christ) continued to bring thoughts to me
that encouraged me. I am more than a conqueror. God has not given me a
spirit of fear. His Spirit helps me to know the things that are
freely given to me.
Jesus is my Lord.
The word of God has the authority to rule all flesh in my
behalf. I am heir to
the world. I use the
word of God for my victory.
The angels hearken to the word when spoken by me. I am a believer and I have
confidence. I attain
this confidence from my union with Him. I speak only the words that
my Father speaks. My
words are active, energizing, operative and
effectual.
They are spirit and they are life.
18
There is no fear in love (dread does not exist), but full-grown
(complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every
trace of terror! For
fear brings with it the thought of punishment and (so) he who is
afraid has not reached the full maturity of love (is not yet grown
into love's complete perfection). God's love is His provision,
protection, power and presence acting on/in my behalf. God's grace causes me to
receive from Him. God
is always with me watching to perform the words that I
speak. He is my
refuge, my fortress, my God: in Him will I trust. He delivers me
from traps, fears, afflictions, destructions and evils. The word of
the Lord abides in me and the evil one touches me not. I changed my thoughts and
began to train my mind to think God's thoughts. I was at peace constantly
thinking about the word.
As I continued the faith practices, my son would tell me how
the situation was changing for his benefit. The word built faith in me.
Understanding established my walk. I believed God's
word. God had
taught me how to rid myself of fears and He established me in His
word. Knowing
that I was pleasing my Father gave me the energy to
continue. God's word
supplied all that I needed.
My son was freed of all problems associated with this
situation and did not have to serve any time. There is no
substitute for fellowshipping with God. He really loves
me.
