The Spirit of Blindness

      The bible states “2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”  This blindness is real and can only be identified through the Gifts of the Spirit.  There are a lot of folks that think that they have everything under control even believing that no one pays them any attention when they are doing something wrong.  I had an opportunity to see after my eyes had been open to the gospel.  I was able to go into a party and within a few minutes I would know whom I wanted to be with.  At the time I thought I was so smart that I had a system of figuring people out.  Unknown to me was what God revealed to me.  There were spirits on assignment and they needed two bodies to use for their pleasure.  The spirits sitting on my shoulder and whispering in my ear were telling me the person I should be with.  I thought I was hearing this in my mind.  If the person looked at me and smiled and made certain movements with her eyes I knew that this was the person I needed to talk with.  Spirits have to have a body here on earth to do what they are assigned to do.  Not knowing that I was being used at the time I enjoyed the knowledge of being able to plan this night myself.  I was only aiding the spirits to operate like they wanted.

      The more time I spent in the study of the word of God the more visible this unseen world became.  I saw people sitting in the room talking to each other and I would watch the spirits make suggestions to the persons and they would get up and go and do what was suggested. I would tell the persons what I saw and they would look at me like I was psychic.  They would even laugh and play it off and go ahead as they had intended not knowing or carrying that they were being used.  The bible states it like this,” Proverbs 7:13-23 (NLT) 13 She threw her arms around him and kissed him, and with a brazen look she said, 14"I've offered my sacrifices and just finished my vows. 15 It's you I was looking for! I came out to find you, and here you are! 16 My bed is spread with colored sheets of finest linen imported from Egypt. 17 I've perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. 18 Come; let's drink our fill of love until morning. Let's enjoy each other's caresses, 19 for my husband is not home. He's away on a long trip. 20 He has taken a wallet full of money with him, and he won't return until later in the month."  21 So she seduced him with her pretty speech. With her flattery she enticed him. * 22 He followed her at once, like an ox going to the slaughter or like a trapped stag, 23 awaiting the arrow that would pierce its heart. He was like a bird flying into a snare, little knowing it would cost him his life.” *

      Yes the spirit of blindness is real. People some time awake and wonder how they could have done such a thing.  I am reminded of the passage in Proverbs about the man that tarry long at the wine, it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder.  He shall say they have stricken me and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when I shall awake. I will seek it again. *  (Proverbs 23:30-33, 35 NLT ³⁰It is the one who spends long hours in the taverns, trying out new drinks. ³¹Don't let the sparkle and smooth taste of wine deceive you. ³²For in the end it bites like a poisonous serpent; it stings like a viper. ³³You will see hallucinations, and you will say crazy things. ³⁵And you will say, "They hit me, but I didn't feel it. I didn't even know it when they beat me up. When will I wake up so I can have another drink?")  A person who permits the spirits to invade their lives and take over is to be likening to a drunk, who when it’s over say let’s do it again.  This mindset is what causes life to become miserable and unmanageable. These spirits make their home in the person and when it seems that the person is about to get set free they work together to cause a longing for the same thing. 

      Freedom comes in the form of words from the bible, which is spirits.  Most of the time one doesn’t even want to hear it.  The word seems like just another old tale.  As the listener takes heed, the word begins to take on meaning and what was hidden is now identified as a spirit and made known (manifested).  Light has come and the condemnation has passed.  The love of God revealing the truth has come to set everything aright.  No more blindness.  What was lost is now found.  Thank you Jesus for saving my life.
